Vanessa Robitzch

Program Manager ,Coral Reef Assessment and Monitoring

Biography

A marine biologist specialized in population genetics and coral reef ecology, currently managing the Coral Reef Assessment and Monitoring Program for the Saudi Arabian government at the General Organization for Conservation of Coral Reefs and Turtles in the Red Sea (SHAMS). My research combines ecological, biological, and genetic data to understand marine organism distribution and adaptation. I've worked in diverse environments from the Irminger Sea to Antarctica, and across the Indo-Pacific, from the Red Sea to Rapa Nui, focusing on coral reef fishes. Born on a tiny Caribbean Island in Colombia, graduating in Germany, completing my PhD in Saudi Arabia, and continuing my career in Chile, I am grateful to be back in the Kingdom pursuing and spreading my passion for conservation of biodiversity and sustainability - a commitment to safeguarding the delicate balance of our planet's ecosystems and ensuring the well-being of both human and non-human."
