Biography

Dr. Dalal Alezi is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at King Abdulaziz University (KAU) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. She obtained her Ph.D. from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), specializing in the design and synthesis of novel materials and their diverse applications, such as gas separation and storage, catalysis, and environmental applications.

She was honored with the Physical Science and Engineering (PSE) Division Student Award and was among the 45 finalists for the prestigious Reaxys PhD Prize, acknowledging her innovative research. In 2017, she was invited to participate as a young scientist in the esteemed 67th Lindau Nobel Laureates Meeting. 

Her impact extends beyond academia, as evidenced by her feature in Nature magazine as an influential figure driving positive change in Saudi Arabia. Dr. Alezi was awarded the Ibn-Khaldun Fellowship in 2023, enabling her to conduct research at the Chemistry Department of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In 2024, Dr. Alezi was recognized with the BCG V60 awards for her outstanding contributions to climate and sustainability in the Middle East.
