Dr. Bushnak is the Chairman of Bushnak Group, which has several companies active in water, environment, and energy services, headquartered in Jeddah, KSA. Bushnak obtained his BS and MS degrees from the University of California Berkeley and his PhD degree in civil engineering from the University of Michigan. Dr. Bushnak played a crucial role in promoting water desalination technologies such as reverse osmosis, ultra filtration, and membrane filtration for seawater desalination and water reuse. He leads a private Saudi effort to commercialize direct seawater for irrigation to produce food crops. Dr. Bushnak has helped establish and co-found many companies such as Wesco, which helps in developing private desalination plants as well as helping in upgrading and improving the performance of existing plants. Dr. Bushnak served as a Director of several public shareholding companies, including Jeddah Holding Co., Medina Industrial Investment Co., and Saudi Industrial Services Co. Dr. Bushnak has also served as a member of the Advisory Board of the Supreme Economic Council, chaired by King Abdullah. In addition, he has served as a Director of the Military Industries General Corporation, chaired by Crown Prince Sultan, the Medina Government Council, and the Medina Water and Sewerage Authority, both of which are chaired by the Prince of Medina. Dr. Bushnak founded Jeddah Water and Power Forum and currently serves as its Chairman. In addition, he served as a Director of Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industries for eight years and currently serves as the CEO of the Medina Center for Community Development, which he co-founded to fight poverty.
