Biography

Dr. Daniel Acevedo-Feliz, Director of the KAUST Core Labs, joined the University in 2009 as a scientific visualization and virtual reality research scientist in the Visualization Core Laboratory. In 2014, he was appointed director of the Visualization Core Laboratory, and he held the position of acting director of the Supercomputing Core Laboratory from 2015 to 2016. In 2017, he became facilities director, Materials Characterization, Nanofabrication and Plant Science Core Labs. In his current roles, Acevedo-Feliz oversees the strategy and operations of the Core Labs; implements organization-wide initiatives and multi-year strategic objectives; and supports the lab directors in operational requirements and compliance. Prior to joining KAUST, Acevedo-Feliz was head of visualization and 3D modeling at Acciona Infraestructuras, SA (Madrid, Spain). He received his Ph.D. in computer science from Brown University in 2007 and his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Universidade da Coruña (Spain) in 1998.​
